Paper Boat Patterns.

Bows, frills and flowers for a Mum with two boys.

As a Mum of two boys I'm only used to cars, trains, dinosaurs and everything related to boys, making girly things can be very calming and satisfying.  Once again I've been fortunate to be selected to review a pattern this pattern was for a pants from  Paper Boat Patterns:

This time it was an all girly affair.  I can't remember when it was the last time I made something for a girl.  This was one of the cutest pants I've made.  I'll keep you up to date with my progress.

The quest for the perfect Gluten Free Bread accomplished.

Gluten Free Bread and Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls
After nearly three years searching the internet for the perfect gluten free bread receipt I finally found the ONE.  This bread tastes like regular gluten bread, it does't crumble or fall apart and you can make a proper sandwich with if.  To top it off I got the thumbs up from my five year old as he does't eat any bread his mum makes.
We make the pull apart receipt every Friday night I replace the sugar with honey.... it's just awesome.  Read more about replacing the sugar with honey at the end of the post.

Here is the bread receipt as promised.

Recipe from:
Recipe type: Yeast Breads/Rolls
Ingredients
  • 2¾ cups (11½ oz.) Gluten Free Mama's Almond Blend Flour
  • 1½ tsp. xanthan gum
  • 2 tsp. SAF instant yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup warm water (105-110°)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, dairy-free margarine, or Spectrum shortening, melted
  • 1 egg (preferably room temp)
  • 1 tsp. cider vinegar
Instructions
  1. In the mixing bowl of your electric mixer, mix together flour, xanthan gum, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. With mixer running on low speed, add in the water, melted butter (or substitute), egg, and cider vinegar.
  3. Mix on high speed 3 minutes.
  4. Spray 8" or 9" round cake pan or pie plate with cooking spray. Using a 2" scoop or ⅓ cup measuring cup, scoop dough into 9 mounds in the pan. I place one mound in middle, then scoop 8 mounds of dough side by side all the way around the pan.
  5. Dip your fingertips into warm water and use to smooth out the tops of the rolls, continuing to wet fingers as needed.
  6. Cover with a dry towel and let rise in a warm place 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. During the last few minutes that the rolls are rising, preheat oven to 400°.
  8. Bake in 400° oven for 26-28 minutes. Tops should be golden brown and if you measure temperature of dough, it should measure 200°.
  9. Brush rolls with additional ½-1 Tablespoon of melted butter

You can double the amount of batter and bake it in a loaf tin approximately 31.5cm x14cm x9cm.

Replace sugar with a 1/4 - 1/2 cup of honey and reduce the water by a 1/4 cup and devolve the honey in the warm water to make a delicious Sabbath Challah.
Here is my personal gluten free flour mix:
4 1/2 cup white rice flour.
1 1/2 cup Glutinous rice flour.
2       cups potato starch.
1        cup tapioca flour.
4        tsp Xantham gum.
Measure by scooping into a measuring cup and then levelling it.  Whisk until completely mixed.
Use cup for cup instead of gluten flour.

Enjoy!!! and please let me know how your bread turned out.

Custom made nursery bedding.

Design your baby's room to suite your style.

To decorate a nursery for a new baby is very exiting, buying new baby furniture, bedding, feeding chair, wet wipe warmer and all the thing you don't need. But there is one thing to remember, this room is in your house - that means you've got complete control over how adorable it looks (at least until the age of 8  when they start decorating it themselves).

We all know, the bedding you choose for your baby’s crib and room has a large impact on the overall design of the nursery and your style. With so many adorable fabrics available there’s no reason to stick to store-bought crib sheets, quilts and change table sets.

We at Bubbles and Bibs can make modern bedding to suit your style and nursery theme. You choose the fabric and we make it according to your specifications. We can also add a personal touch with embroidering.

We can make:

Fitted cot sheets.
Cot quilt 30"x 40".
Cot skirts/valance with a 16" drop.  Three sided skirt - two ends and one front piece.

Change Table covers.
This measurements fits most standard size 52"x 27" cots.

A Memory Bear close to my heart.

This Memory Bear is going home on an African Safari!

Every time I receive a package to make a Memory Bear it's such an adventure full of smiles and tears. This time I received a package from my own family all the way from South Africa by total surprise.

Making a Memory bear for someone in your own family makes it so emotional but super special.  This Memory Bear is for my sister in law's daughter Marinel...our Little princess.

Marinel  is our family's only granddaughter (for now) and the only grandchild living in South Africa. Marinel has a syndrome that is responsible for her being unable to walk, talk or do anything a four year old should do.  This syndrome still doesn't have a name and there is still no explanation for her condition. As a result of this unexplainable condition, which doctors say could be genetic, her parents decided that there won't be more children, until told otherwise.  Marinel will be their little baby girl forever.

Making this Memory Bear for our family's VERY special princess is such an honour. Every Memory bear is filled with love and joy but this one is made with a bit more.

Lots of hugs and kisses.

The making of Zayla's Memory Bear.

When cutting precious baby clothes that's got so much meaning it makes me so much more determined and nervous to get it perfect - The Pressure is on!!

Making a Memory Bear or Quilt takes me on a journey with every family through the happy and sad times that is why everyone is unique and special.

I'm so excited to see what little Miss Bear is going to look like once done.  Fun Embroidery is kindly donating the embroidering of Zayla's name on Miss Bear's paw as a special surprise for the Green family. (If they don't read this post;-)

We're almost done with Miss Bear's body and head then it's assemble time.  We'll add some finishing touches, maybe a bow around the neck or perhaps a sleeping blanket for Miss Bear.

A Memory Bear for special princess Zayla.

Celebrating and remembering Zayla!!

Making a Memory Bear or Quilt is always exiting and every single one is special.  Receiving a parcel from a mother that loss her little princess at two year of age due to a rare brain disease called Sturge Weber Syndrome makes it ever more special. Here is the Facebook page in memory of Zayla.

Opening up the parcel with Zayla's outfits and reading the note from her mother brought tears to my eyes and still does every time I look at my two gorgeous and "perfect" boys.  The tears dried up quick and soon I could see the possibilities and I was smiling away as I imaginatively placed the out fits on the bear model.

Zayla's Mum, Jessica is expecting a new bundle of joy and this is the whole reason we are making this special Memory Bear so that the new baby can hug, hold, squeeze and kiss and remembering their big sister Zayla everyday.

The making of this Memory Bear will be very close to my heart as I knowing what close family goes through by having a special princess in their lives.  I take my hat off to all the "strong" and amazing Mum's and Dad's out there looking after special needs children. .

You're so right, God does knows exactly who to give special children to.

We'll keep you updated with the process in making Zayla's Memory Bear.
