Gluten Free what's the fuss?

Is Gluten Free is just a fashion craze?

To all my Gluten free Followers, Friends and Family. I know that most of you think Gluten Free is the new Stupid or a fashion craze:-) if only this was true, my life would've been soooo much easier. That's why I need your help.

As you all know I'm Gluten intolerant and I've tried all most all the GF receipts and products the internet and books has to offer. Sadly most of the products and receipts is loaded with additives and preservatives. This is my quest for products to make my life and those around me easier. Please help me by answering this "Gluten Free Survey"

1. Do you know anyone especially kids and teenagers suffering from coeliac disease, gluten intolerance or food sensitivity?

2. Would an on line site here in Canberra offering all natural and gluten free, no added preservatives cookie dough, dry cookie mix products and bread mixes interest you?

3. If gluten-free food tasted nice with out all the processed ingredients, would you eat it?

4. At what price per loaf do you think is acceptable to pay for gluten-free bread, dry cookie pre mixes and ready to bake dough?

5. Do you believe gluten-free products with no added preservatives are readily available within your area or coffee shop at an affordable price?

6. What gluten-free products would you like to see on the menu of a cafe or available for home baking?

Life in Memory Lane

Making Memory toys keeps me humble and thankful.

I've been so blessed and humbled by the amount of orders I've received and made since the day my innocent post for "Johnny Bear" on Facebook read it here.

I was just a Mum that couldn't bear the thought of selling or giving away her precious boys (2 and 5) clothes, and I knew there must be other Mums out there that feels the same.

During this short journey I've met so many wonderful people and awesome Mums. I really love what I do it humbles me everything realising how privileged I am to have to healthy boys. Every Memory Toy and Quilt is a Mum's and a Dad's fond memories of her little one that is in my hands to preserve.  

Its not always easy to cut into all the those cute and adorable onesie, babygro,dresses or special out fits. There's days that tears welts up and I praying out loud: "Dear Lord, please help me to cut it perfect and help me not to make a mistake. This is someone else's treasured possessions I'm responsible for" (Yes, making it perfect does require heavenly intervention and inspiration).  I really feel the pressure getting it perfect, after all I'm cutting (pardon the pan) up someone's memories;-)  Every single Memory Toy and Quilt has turned out perfect (well is my eyes;-) 

There's nothing quite like a hug from a bear, especially form one made form special outfits that's looks and smells familiar.

I wont be the Wife, Mum or Business women I'm today with out the support of my darling Husband and two boys (between snack time, lunch time, toilet patrol, nap times and the school run) and good friends. 

Bubbles and Bibs will be expanding in the new year employing a part time seamstress, so if there's any stay at home mums that can sew and is looking for a part time income please email for for information.

"I bought the Bath Bubble just before my 2nd girl arrived a month prematurely and was able to bath her in comfort in the hospital (NICU)'s sink. Bathing my baby together with her 3 year old active sister is a possibility with the Bath Bubble - I would never have attempted the two together without. I would have had to bath them separately, using up valuable time (whilst having to keep the other occupied).

Now that she's six months, she seems to love lying in the bubble, being amused at her sister's bath adventures, while kicking her legs ever so often. She seems very comfortable floating in it, and I don't need to hold her which is the best thing about it, though I make 100% sure that I don't take my eyes off her for a second. It is quite sturdy, yet moulds around her body. It dries super quickly, and is very light and easy to store. I just wish I had it with my first born! I highly recommend it to all moms. I think its a great baby shower gift as well."

Its hard saying goodbye.....

 Raff and Beatrix saying their final goodbyes...

Making Memory Toys is so rewarding but saying goodbye is hard but saying goodbye to something you've created is even harder.  When we receive a bag full of baby/toddler clothing its so exciting. First its the oohhh and aahhh and reliving the moment when my little ones were so small or big. 

When all the clucking around is done it's down to business.  First it's planing the colour pallet and co-coordinating fabrics, then it's time to cut and this is always the most daunting part.... its final it's not clothes any more it's going to be a new "creation" (pardon the pan) Here is the Memory friend saying their final goodbyes before the will go back home.

A Memory Quilt can heal a broken heart.....

A Memory Quilt with love from Mum 

I received a bag full of memories from a dear client who's mother passed away suddenly.  They ordered four quilts for each one of the family to make Mum's hugs last forever. When I received this bag full of her Mum's clothes I was flushed with emotion. Suddenly I realised how much I missed my Mum that lives 13000 km away and how I would have loved to give her a hug. If you have your Mum close please hug her more and even give her one from me;-)

There was special request that I have to incorporate two special clothing items, Tigers Rugby League fabric and Christmas fabric in each of the four quilts (Go the Tigers!!)

This is just why I just love my job.... no I mean my passion.  I strive to make people happy and if I can mend a broken heart in the process, mission accomplished. 

I'm looking forward completing this quilts and I hope that every time they wrap this quilt around them its like a hug from Mum.

Roarrrring Larry Lion ready for an adventure.

Larry Lion is ready for a new adventure.

Larry started out with a few loved baby onesie which we turned into a roarrrrring lion.

After careful planing all the pieces was cut and ready for sewing and assembling. Here we are at the half way mark creating Larry.

Drum RRRRROOOOLLLL for the one and only Larry Lion!!!!! 

What a handsome Lion Larry turned out to be.  It was a pleasure making him know this memory is going to last forever.

Larry is now ready for his new adventure with his family and new soft toy friends.

Paper Boat Patterns.

Bows, frills and flowers for a Mum with two boys.

As a Mum of two boys I'm only used to cars, trains, dinosaurs and everything related to boys, making girly things can be very calming and satisfying.  Once again I've been fortunate to be selected to review a pattern this pattern was for a pants from  Paper Boat Patterns:  

This time it was an all girly affair.  I can't remember when it was the last time I made something for a girl.  This was one of the cutest pants I've made.  I'll keep you up to date with my progress.

Gluten Free Bread Q & A

We've had so many question about the Gluten Free bread recipe we shared last week. Here is some questions and awnsers. 

Q:  1. Where do we buy the flour?

A:  I buy my flour from the local Asian grocer (Fyshwick Fresh Food Market) this is what the packaging looks like.

Q:   1. Do I use my own flour mix for the recipe.

A:  Yes.

Q:  What is the consistency of the batter.

A:  Thick cake batter.

Gluten Free Biscuits Recipe.

Four ingredient Peanut Butter biscuit recipe.


Are you always looking for an alternative to store bought biscuits with half the sugar and not to mention the nasties?  Here is super easy recipe that the kids will just love. Great biscuits project the kids can make with Mums helping hand.

Recipe.

1 Cup Peanut Butter

1 Egg

1/3 Cup Brown Sugar

1/2 Cup Desiccated Cocont

1.  Pre heat oven 200 C

2.  Line baking sheet with baking paper.

3.  Mix all together.

4   Roll in walnut size ball and flatten slightly.

5.  Bake for 10-12 min until golden brown.

Let it cool down and enjoy with a cuppa.
